About Tana Mehlhaff

Hello, my name is Tana Mehlhaff.  I have lived in Oklahoma for most of my life, but I am originally from South Dakota.  When I was eight years old, I knew that I wanted to grow up to be a teacher. My father and aunt were both teachers, and that played a great part in my aspirations to be a teacher. I enjoyed being in my dad’s classroom after school as a young child.  My aunt helped me spell and learn math facts when she visited.  I remember getting a school desk as a gift from my grandparents and playing school for hours with my sister.

My desire and specialty is working in a one-on-one environment to help students achieve excellence in Reading, Spelling, Comprehension, Phonics, Writing, and Speech. -Tana Mehlhaff, Tana’s Tutoring

My childhood played a pivotal role in my desire to pursue work with children. During my college search, I briefly thought about a counseling degree. However, I realized that majoring in Elementary Education was the necessary route for my dreams to become reality.  For the next ten years after completing college, I worked both in charter and private schools in the Oklahoma City metro area. During this time, I realized my love for teaching students went beyond the classroom. I received my Academic Language Therapist certification through Payne Education Center. My desire and specialty is working in a one-on-one environment to help students achieve excellence in Reading, Spelling, Comprehension, Phonics, Writing, and Speech.

Outside of teaching, I love to travel and experience different cultures around the world. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Plus, I am a HUGE Sooner fan.
